Carved Wood Deity by the Buddhist monk, Enku (Japanese, 1632-1695)
Unidentified Edo Period Suijaku figure (Chinese forms and "Shinto
manifestations" of Buddhist deities), most likely made during Enku's Early
Period, ca.1663-1669.
Very good condition, commensurate with age, with traces of pigment and
earth. (Bust may have been cut from a larger figure at some point in the distant past.) Height = Approximately 7 inches (18 cm)
