All of us here at Vajra Gallery, and at Blue Valley, want to thank all of you,
all over the planet, who have made this sale of the Vidyadhara's precious calligraphy a rousing success! Jolly good! Blue Valley Foundation is truly grateful for the support and invites you to stop by their new website
coming very soon http://www.bluevalleyfoundation.org/index.html
These three works are from the four comprising Trungpa Rinpoche's
"Elegance" series - originally designed for the groundbreaking "Dharma
Arts Seminars" given in Los Angeles in the mid 1970's. These first editions
were limited to 100 pieces each, and have not been subsequently reprinted
or reissued. Screened on high quality, heavyweight rag paper with two
deckled edges, and having a sheet size of 22 X 30 inches, each print has a
penciled edition number lower-left; and has been sealed in red ink, to the
right of Rinpoche's calligraphed signature, with the Vidyadhara's small
Scorpion Seal.
One of the four prints in this series has sold out, but we still have a small
number of, "Elegance Subjugating Aggression", as well as a few each of the
other two remaining works, "Elegance Overcomes Aggression" and
"Elegance is Free from Laziness". As anyone who has searched for his
artwork knows, pieces by Trungpa Rinpoche are almost nonexistent in the
marketplace. Aside from one or two small sized, un-signed, un-sealed,
un-numbered, large open editions sold by Shambhala International; or the
few select pieces still available through the Paul Hannon Collection, there is
nothing to be found - anywhere, at any price. Vajra Gallery is the only place
you will find these calligraphies by Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche offered to
the public.
For more information about the calligraphy of Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche,
including many examples of his work and an essay on the origins and
significance of his various seals, please see his book, The Art of
Calligraphy - Joining Heaven and Earth.
***Please note: As we are reaching the end of our supply of these special artworks, there may be additional imperfections found on some individual prints such as, tack-holes, pencil marks verso, smudges, tears to the margin etc. Most, if not all, of these compromises can be easily matted out.
I will provide a detailed condition report on a print-by-print basis. There will be no price discount on any of these remaining prints.
